Signing up
How do I sign up?
Signing up couldn’t be easier. First, check availability in your area by visiting our availability checker. If we’re building or installing in your area, you can sign up on our website and we’ll be in touch to get your installation booked as soon as your street is ready for service.
If we’re not yet in your area, the availability checker will let you know and you can register your interest. This means we can keep you updated and get your installation booked as soon as we’re ready.
How do I register my interest?
Registering is free and easy – just visit the availability checker at the top of the page to check your address against our plans.
You’re not committed or obliged to take the service when we update you to say we can connect you. However if you don’t register we may not get in touch with you!
What happens after I register?
If we haven’t yet installed full-fibre network in your area, we’ll keep you updated on the progress of this. When we’re ready and you’re ready to go ahead, we’ll help you submit your order.
How long until service is available?
We usually start to get things moving around 5 months before we start connecting homes and businesses.
You’ll see our friendly engineering teams in the local area and where possible we’ll use the existing infrastructure that currently brings your old copper line to you. In some instances this may not be possible so we may need to dig down to lay the fibre. We work at around 150 meters per day so if we do have to dig, we won’t be there for long, and no longer than a couple of hours outside a home or business.
Once you’ve registered your interest, we’ll be in touch to keep you informed about when we expect your street to be ready for the lightning-fast speeds of full-fibre.
Does installation cost anything?
Absolutely not! There’s no cost of connection for all eligible properties thanks to the Project Gigabit Voucher Scheme. For more information about availability at your property, simply check your address on our availability checker.
Does my existing line stay or do you replace this?
Your existing line stays and we install full-fibre from the cabinet outside your home, into your property. It’s this new fibre line that delivers the ultrafast speeds for seamless streaming and lightning-fast browsing.
Do I lose my TV channels or streaming services?
No – you can still use your streaming services with our ultrafast product. However, if you currently get TV channels from your existing internet provider, you may lose these when you cancel with them – it’s best to check when you call to cancel.
Vouchers
About UK Voucher schemes
As part of the Government’s initiative, Project Gigabit, Building Digital UK has implemented a voucher scheme to help people in rural areas access gigabit-capable broadband speeds for the first time.
You can read more about Project Gigabit here.
When & how do I claim a voucher?
It’s super simple – we do it all for you!
All we’ll need from you is:
- Your confirmation that you’re happy for us to apply on your behalf
- The details you’re using to sign up for broadband
- Whether or not you’re a business (and if you are, confirmation of whether you’re a small or medium-sized enterprise)
Once your application is received, you’ll receive an email from BDUK asking you to verify your voucher application. This email will come from building.digital.uk@notifications.service.gov.uk with the subject Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme – action required. Sometimes this email might go into your junk folder, so please check there.
We need this to go ahead with your installation, and you only have 28 days before this expires, so get in touch if you haven’t received this shortly after you order.
Once you’re connected to our full-fibre broadband, you’ll receive a second email from BDUK to confirm you’ve been connected and you’re happy with the service. You need to verify this email, and this will activate your voucher for free.
How do I complete my voucher?
You’ll receive an email from BDUK (building.digital.uk@notifications.service.gov.uk) asking you to verify your voucher application. To verify it, follow the steps below:
- Follow the link in the body of the email
- Log in by entering your own email address and the password given in the email (6 digit code)
- Follow the steps in the link confirming the information is correct
- If you spot anything is incorrect, please call us on 0330 236 9900
- Click submit to complete verification
Once this has been submitted, we’ll be in touch to discuss the next steps.
If you’re having issues accessing the link in the email, here are some common things to check:
- Make sure you’re entering the same email address you used to sign up to Highland Broadband
- Double check the password (6 digit code) matches the one in the email
- Try on another device
